Effect : Yes, Cytopathic effect: Rounding and sloughing of infected cells
Comments : Selected after mutagenesis with nitrosoguanidine and replication in the presence of bromodeoxyuridine. The non-permissive incubation temperature is 39.5oC. This mutant was assigned to Dales EM category F, indicating that it produces aberrant membranes with spicules and viroplasm in infected cells. The mutation was assigned by complementation analysis (Lackner, et al, 2003) to vaccinia map location G3. Vaccination recommended for lab staff manipulating vaccinia, monkeypox, or cowpox viruses (CDC/NIH Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories, 4th ed, 1999 - stock no. 017-040-00547-4).
