Anyone purchasing ATCC material is ultimately responsible for obtaining the permits. Please click here for information regarding the specific requirements for shipment to your location.
Virus Resistance:poliovirus 1
Comments:The cells are positive for keratin by immunoperoxidase staining.
The cells are negative for bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV). [22883 ]
Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: Medium 199 with 1.12 g/L sodium bicarbonate, 90%; horse serum, 10%
Temperature: 37.0°C
Subculturing: Protocol: Please note, this cell line is extremely sensitive to trypsin.Remove the spent medium, and rinse the monolayer with fresh 0.25% trypsin, 0.53 mM EDTA solution. Remove the trypsin, add fresh trypsin and let the culture sit at room temperature (or at 37C) until the cells detach (about 10 minutes). Transfer the cell suspension to a centrifuge tube, and spin at approximately 125 x g for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the supernatant, add fresh medium to the pellet, aspirate and dispense into new flasks.
Subcultivation Ratio: A subcultivation ratio of 1:4 to 1:8 is recommended
Medium Renewal: Twice per week
