Comments:HCC1395 BL is a B lymphoblastoid cell line initiated by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) transformation of peripheral blood lymphocytes obtained from the same patient as the breast carcinoma cell line HCC1395.
The cell line was initiated from a 43 year old white female with a TNM stage I, grade 3 primary ductal carcinoma and a prior history of cancer; her mother had breast cancer.
Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Iscove's Modified Dulbecco's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2005. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 20%.
Atmosphere: air, 95%; carbon dioxide (CO2), 5%
Temperature: 37.0°C
Subculturing: Protocol: Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension in fresh medium at 5 X 10(5) viable cells/ml. Maintain cultures at cell concentrations between 5 X 10(5) and 2 X 10(6) viable cells/ml.
Medium Renewal: Add fresh medium every 2 to 3 days (depending on cell density)
Preservation: Freeze medium: Complete growth medium, 95%; DMSO, 5%
Storage temperature: liquid nitrogen vapor phase
Related Products:Recommended medium (without the additional supplements or serum described under ATCC Medium):ATCC 30-2001
recommended serum:ATCC 30-2020
tumor cell line established from the same patient:ATCC CRL-2324
purified DNA:ATCC CRL-2325D
purified RNA:ATCC CRL-2325R
