Summary and
additional information:
<- R.-M. Wittich, RW10-F6 (DSM 12647) in coculture with Sphingomonas sp. RW16 (DSM 12677). Soil samples from a waste dump; Germany. Mixed culture utilizes as sole source of carbon: 2- or 3-chlorodibenzofuran, 4- or 5-chlorosalicylate, 4-fluoro- or 4-chlorocatechol. RW 16 transforms chlorodibenzofuran to 4- and 5-chlorosalicylic acid which are further catabolized by strain RW 10. (Medium 457 (add 50 mg/l of yeast extract and some crystals of 3-chlorodibenzofuran. Transformation is indicated by deep yellow colour of medium) or medium 220, 28°C)
