生殖支原體外觀呈燒瓶狀，末端有一棒狀結(jié)構(gòu)。生殖支原體是所有支原體中基因組最小的一種。最適宜的生長(zhǎng)溫度為37℃。生長(zhǎng)非常緩慢，在一般培養(yǎng)基、液體培養(yǎng)基及有氧情況中不生長(zhǎng)，在不含醋酸鉈的SP-4培養(yǎng)基中生長(zhǎng)。生殖支原體可通過(guò)自身的黏附結(jié)構(gòu)黏附于上皮細(xì)胞、紅細(xì)胞的表面，并可在細(xì)胞表面滑動(dòng)，逐步進(jìn)入上皮細(xì)胞及紅細(xì)胞內(nèi)致病。
